Scouting Report: GuardiaN

GuardiaN’s 2017 has been weak for his standards. This is a player that is in the discussion of CS:GO’s best AWPer in it’s history. There are a few reasons for this. Seized wasn’t prepared to take on the leadership role and killing his individual play hurt their play too much, especially on the Ct-side. Secondly, it seems like the entire team believed they could run the starix style of play without starix at the helm which was a mistake. As for GuardiaN’s individual form, I’d say he was good for about half of his tournaments, but in terms of timeline, he was fine at the beginning of the year. Went nowhere for the middle of the year except at ESL Cologne. The shift to FaZe has helped his game a lot as he immediately improved and I’d say EPICENTER has been his best event in terms of individual performance all year.

He’s had a lot of notable games, I’d say his best were on three maps in particular: Overpass, Mirage, and Train. Beyond that he’s had a few on inferno since joining FaZe and showed one strong game on cache against Gambit on EPICENTER.

Notable Games:

Overpass:

Na`Vi vs Heroic IEM Katowice

Na`Vi vs C9 g2 ESL Cologne

Na`Vi vs IMT Krakow Major

Mirage:

Na`Vi vs FaZe g1 DH Vegas

Na`Vi vs C9 IEM Katowice

Na`Vi vs AST g1 IEM Katowice

Na`Vi vs C9 ESL Cologne

FaZe vs mouz Dh Malmo

Train:

Na`Vi vs VP IEM Katowice

Na`Vi vs C9 ESL Cologne

FaZe vs GMB g1 EPICENTER

Nuke:

Na`Vi vs G2 g2 ESL Colgone

Inferno:

FaZe vs NOR g2 ELeague 2017

FaZe vs GMB g2 EPICENTER

Cache:

FaZe vs GMB g3 EPICENTER

As a player he’s always been the point of the spear. This is because as a primary AWPer, he is one of the best at being mobile, getting the first pick, and switching his positions. He’s good at anchoring sites in hits, transitional defense, entry picks, and postplant/retake situations. If there was a specialty I’d point out, I think it’s his ability to find picks as an AWPer on the T-side. As a player, he seems to be improving as he’s shown consistency on FaZe, he’s started to show strength on cache, a map he’s never played professionally, and his rifle has improved.
