Scouting Report: EliGE

EliGE has been the best player for Liquid over 2017. While there is an argument now for Twistzz being Liquid’s best player, I still think it is EliGE. EliGE is TL’s most consistent performer and a player who does not fall under pressure. When EliGE started with his time on Liquid, he looked the strongest when he teamed up with nitr0 to break open sites on the T-side. He can still be explosive in that role, but he no longer needs to do it as Twistzz has been switched to this role. In terms of technique, it makes sense as Twistzz has better first bullet-aim while EliGE has incredible spray control, the former often being better for entry-work than the latter.

The two primary roles that EliGE has is closing rounds and playmaking on the Ct-side. Here are some notable games I’ve picked out:

Cobble:

TL vs G2 g1 DreamHack Austin

TL vs EnVyUs g1 ESL PL S5

TL vs North ESL PL S5

TL vs SK g3 ESL NY

Nuke:

TL vs NiP g1 Summit

Train:

TL vs nV g2 ESL PL S5

TL vs IMT ESL Cologne

Inferno:

TL vs Na`Vi ESL Cologne

TL vs NOR g1 EPICENTER

Cache:

TL vs EnVyUs ELeague Major

TL vs FaZe g1 ESL Cologne

TL vs FaZe g3 ESL NY

Mirage:

TL vs NOR g2 ESL PL S5

TL vs Astralis ESL NY

TL vs Astralis g3 ESL NY

TL vs SK g3 ELeague 2017

Overall, EliGE’s impact is across the board and changes depending on what era of his play you’re looking at. On the T-side he has shifted from one of the entry guys 1st or 2nd in to 3rd or 4th in. Because of that he doesn’t have as many entry kill impacts, but has more in postplant situations.

On the Ct-side he gets impact in multiple ways. He can either get it by aggressively contesting map control (the two biggest being inferno B or cobble plat), getting kills as an anchor when the execute happens, or rotating/retaking on time.

Overall I’d say EliGE is a player who can be impactful throughout the entire game which is a great bonus for the Liquid side as he can come alive for them at any time. If I had to pick a specialty for EliGE, I think that in all of the close victories Liquid has had throughout their entire time together from 2015 to now, it’s that EliGE is a big-game player and more recently a round closing player. He plays better the closer the game gets to the 30 round counter, I don’t know why this is the case, but he does.
